Services to Members

Government Relations
Through the structure of the liaison committees and by the efforts of volunteers and staff, CEBC has direct links to governments at the federal, provincial and municipal levels.

In 2005 an MLA Outreach Program was established to provide communication between the CEBC and key government officials and decision makers, as well as members of the Official Opposition. Through this program MLAs, sitting on both sides of the House, are informed about the expertise available in CEBC member firms and how the organisation can assist government when engineering-related issues develop at a riding level. Ultimately, it will provide an opportunity for CEBC member firms to learn about projects that are being considered by government or the Official Opposition even before they reach a final tendering stage.

Professional Development
The Professional Development Committee supports other provincial PD initiatives through liaison with post-secondary educational and training institutions, the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC's Continuing Professional Development, and in-house Practice Management programs. It has plans to establish a scholarship foundation in the near future to further encourage these efforts.

For more information about the Professional Development work of the CEBC please contact the CEBC office at Tel: 604-687-2811 or info@cebc.org.

Networking Events
As one of its member services, the CEBC Secretariat organizes numerous events to raise the profile of the member firms, and the association as the industry voice for those firms. By participating in these events members have opportunities to learn about relevant business issues or about the capital expenditure plans of their key client groups. These events are also excellent venues for building strong relations with clients and colleagues in industry

Recognition/Marketing
CEBC member firms are noted for their experience, professionalism and expertise within the numerous sectors they represent. And although these accolades are particularly important to them, recognition for their engineering excellence by their peers ranks paramount.

The Awards for Engineering Excellence are as highly regarded by the public as they are by CEBC members. They provide CEBC members an opportunity to showcase their projects and their company to colleagues, peers and competitors. The Awards also provide the chance to make their own staff aware of their achievements. And they add prestige to the firm’s future marketing materials.

Issues Management
The CEBC mission is to promote the business of British Columbia consulting engineering. During the course of this mandate, issues often arise that create an undue burden of liability upon the consultant. To avoid the apparent conflict of interest created when an individual firm raises these concerns with the clients, the CEBC manages issues on behalf of the membership. For more information about how we can help you, please contact the CEBC office at Tel: 604-687-2811 or info@cebc.org.

Affinity Programs
The CEBC membership includes various professional groups involved in the consulting engineering industry. Because of this, the affinity program benefits made available to professional engineers through the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC are not available to the bulk of the CEBC membership. This creates a unique opportunity for firms interested in providing affinity programs to the CEBC members.
To date CEBC offers affinity programs related to health care and financial planning.

Benefit Partners is pleased to make available to CEBC's membership one of the most cost effective solutions for employee benefit plans through the CEBC Collective Purchasing Program.

Investors Group provides Certified Employee Benefits to business owners and executives of small to medium sized firms and offer advice on compensation, business and estate planning.

If a CEBC member would like additional information about these programs or want the Secretariat to provide others, please be sure to let us know. Contact the CEBC office at Tel: 604-687-2811 or info@cebc.org.
