Eligibility of Membership
As a CEBC member, consulting
engineering firms are represented as the best firm and gain a high
profile through the association’s General Eligibility of Membership
Corporate
Membership
To qualify for Corporate Membership, a firm:
•
Must be engaged primarily in the business of offering independent
consulting engineering services to the public and for which purpose
it shall maintain an office or offices in British Columbia.
•
When a proprietorship, the proprietor shall be a registered Professional
Engineer in British Columbia;
•
When a partnership, the majority of the partners shall be registered
Professional Engineers in British Columbia;
•
When a corporation, the corporation shall be incorporated in Canada
and be wholly owned within the private sector with the majority
of the directors of the firm resident in Canada;
•
Makes full disclosure of any conflict or potential conflict of interest;
•
Has high professional repute and ethical standards and shall meet
all requirements for practice as may be, from time to time, established
by this Society;
•
Shall not be conducted under an arrangement that involves a conflict
of interest or that subordinates independent professional judgments
to other considerations;
Associate
Membership
To
qualify for Associate Membership, a firm shall be a sole private
sector practitioner, a partnership or a corporation and shall qualify
for admission if it:
•
derives a significant portion of its revenues from activities related
to the practice of Professional Engineering;
•
at all times, when it is material, fully discloses a conflict or
potential conflict of interest, or business arrangements that might
subordinate independent professional judgments to other considerations;
and
•
maintains an office in British Columbia.
Affiliate
Membership
To
qualify as an Affiliate Member a firm provides a product or service
to engineering consulting firms, or a public sector entity. Affiliate
members may include but are not limited to banks, financial institutions,
insurance companies, drafting supply companies, surveyors, Crown
Corporations and/or management companies.
