Senior Civil/Municipal Engineer

Focus Corporation is a multidiscipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Senior Civil/Municipal Engineer to join our Edmonton team.

Reporting to the Regional Manager you will:

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships; including managing client expectations.
  • Manage client expectations and ensure project deliverables, schedules and budget objectives are met.
  • Apply established project management processes in initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects.
  • Be responsible for managing assignments relating to water distribution, drainage and sanitary sewer systems, infrastructure design, infrastructure planning/studies, water resources and modeling of related infrastructure.
  • Utilize your exposure to hydraulics of piping and pumping systems and storm water management.
  • Coordinate internal technical services including legal survey, storm water management, urban design, and construction services.
  • Participate in and have the technical abilities to coordinate and prepare proposals, tenders and negotiate contracts.

As the successful candidate you:

  • Have 12 years’ experience in municipal engineering.
  • Are registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGGA.
  • Are resourceful and detail oriented.
  • Have formal management training (an asset).
  • Have experience with multi-firm, multi-office and multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff with respect to municipal infrastructure, performance management, training opportunities and ensure branch goals are achieved with a strong emphasis on the business unit goals of growth and profit, with an opportunity for a management role.
  • Have exceptional oral and written communication expertise which is complimented with a keen eye for detail and project management skills.
  • Ideally, are familiar with current City of Edmonton development guidelines, land use by-laws and technical specifications.
