Focus Corporation is a multi-discipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Transportation Manager to join our Victoria, BC team.
Reporting to the Regional Director you will:
- Provide leadership and structural organization to the business operations within the transportation sector discipline.
- Provide input to Focus - Transportation Business Plan in areas of strategic planning, key hires, team alliances, capital investment and overall growth objectives.
- Expand network of client and professional relationships to enable delivery of growth of Focus transportation business.
- Take on responsibilities of a Senior Project Manager and the duties relating to delivering projects on time and on budget.
- Work with Regional Directors to assess capability and proficiency of employee project managers and technical personnel against desired performance profiles.
- Work with Director - Transportation and Regional Director to identify processes and initiatives for operational best practices to ensure project managers have the tools, supports and processes that deliver the best quality of service to clients.
- Facilitate or direct market assessment of business merits and opportunities within the transportation sector.
- Participate in or leads procurement of priority projects using business knowledge and capabilities of project teams to adhere to Focus standards of practice.
As the successful candidate you:
- Are a Professional Transportation Engineer with of a minimum of 10 - 15 years of Engineering experience with a solid background in rural highway design and municipal and arterial roadway design
- Demonstrate an understanding of engineering theories and principles as well as Canadian Engineering standards
- Have a high level of design experience for transportation projects with respect to geometric design and familiarity with traffic analysis
- Have an understanding of highway design software including CAICE and Civil 3D in order to lead design assignments
- Have in depth knowledge of TAC standards
- Have excellent communication skills including presentation, oratory, and verbal skills
- Are a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
