Engineering Technologist - Environment
Our Engineering and Operations Department requires a qualified individual to perform advanced technical, educational, field and inspection work implementing and coordinating environmental quality control reviews of projects within the municipality involving storm water management, air quality, tree management and waterfront protection. The incumbent would also provide assistance in the development of measurable goals and objectives to support the municipality’s environmental strategic plan and provide environmental information to the public.
Under the supervision of the Manager of Environmental Services, the Engineering Technologist - Environment meets with interested environmental groups, prepares reports and drafts regulations relative to environmental studies and legislation, and acts as a liaison with internal and external contacts including senior government agencies.
The successful applicant to this position will have graduated from a recognized Institute of Technology with a diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology supplemented by safety, environmental and other related courses as well as have three years of experience in environmental works. A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and registered or eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians (ASTT) of BC as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) are also required.
The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. The 2010 salary for this full-time position is $2,290.25 - $2,615.62 biweekly and includes a comprehensive benefit package upon successful completion of a four-month probationary period.
