Focus Corporation is a multidiscipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join our Victoria, BC team.

Reporting to the Manager, Municipal and Land Development you will:

  • Supervise project budgeting and budget tracking
  • Prepare/supervise production of engineering design and plans, utilizing employees to perform calculations, research work, etc.
  • Prepare reports, cost estimates and proposals for various projects
  • Outline and assign work to junior staff and review for technical requirements. Guide and review the work of junior employees
  • Interact with clients on projects and act as a company representative to client/contractor
  • Maintain and increase client base
  • Act as project manager on specific jobs
  • Maintain quality control of engineering production
  • Be responsible for inspecting project sites in order to monitor progress and ensure compliance with all safety and government regulations
  • Provide feedback and advice regarding the technical and structural aspects of company projects to management and other project leaders. Supervising the preparation and review of contract drawings and documents
  • Be accountable to the company and clients and provide work that meets company and regulatory standards

As the successful candidate you:

  • Are a Professional Engineer with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering and relative practical experience of a minimum of 10 years within the civil/municipal engineering field
  • Demonstrate an understanding of engineering theories and principles as well as Canadian Engineering standards
  • Have strong communication skills including presentation, oratory, and verbal skills
  • Are able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner
  • Demonstrate knowledge of codes for operation’s geographical area required
  • Are a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC
