Project Design Engineer, Transportation Structures

Focus Corporation is a multidiscipline engineering, geomatics and planning consulting firm with offices in major centers throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Project Design Engineer, Transportation Structures to join our Calgary Transportation team.

Reporting to the Project Manager, Transportation Structures you will:

• Provide exceptional service to clients relating to bridges and transportation structures in connection with major roadway and interchange projects.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
• Manage client expectations and ensure project deliverables, schedules and budget objectives are met.
• Prepare documentation related to current or prospective projects; including reports, cost estimates, proposals and specifications.
• You will be involved in all aspects of the design of a bridge structure to AT or City Standards.
• Be responsible for the structural design, choose design reports and the preparation of contract documents.
• Work closely with our Transportation Team and Clients.

As the ideal candidate you:

• Are a member of or eligible for membership in APEGGA and have relevant industry experience
• Seeking an individual with 5 years or more of experience
• Have working knowledge with structural design software such as SAP2000.
• Are familiar with provincial and municipal transportation standards in Alberta.
• Have exceptional oral and written communication expertise which is complemented with a keen eye for detail and project management skills.
• Are a seasoned professional with progressive experience in design of bridge structures of both concrete and steel design
• Have a strong knowledge of Post Tensioned design structures
• Are an effective team player
• Have the ability to think independently and be resourceful in completing your work
• Will have an opportunity to expand into a leadership and business development role.
